其實最開始,她並沒有想要出家,用她的話說:「只是想住在深山裡的一間屋子裡,在大自然的懷抱之中,一直一個人生活下去。」
直到17歲那年,她踏進了寺廟。在第一次走進寺廟時,她才真正體會到了自己一直向往的,自由的感覺。兩年後,她正式落發出家。
出家後的日子很艱苦,父親卻是最煎熬的那個。「我會讓你住在山裡,但是我會很傷心。」連住在山裡都會傷心的父親,面對孩子出家,一輩子不能體會家庭之樂,無法享受肉之美味,孑然一身,無所依倚,更是無比的傷心難過。
可是即便如此,他也沒有剝奪女兒的快樂,去要求她滿足自己的安排,而是選擇默默的支持她。

也許是一直無法放下這顆惦念的心,在她父親79歲那年,他來到了靜觀所在的寺廟,他說:「我要自己來感受你為什麼過這樣的生活。」
寺院沒有肉食,食素多日後,父親還是無法習慣,他擔心女兒過的辛苦,不禁問道:「僧人能吃到的最好的食物是什麼?」
靜觀為此,去深山裡采摘了蘑菇,用香油和醬油將其在鍋中炸熟,讓父親在臨近的大山中聽泉,感受大山,安靜的品嘗。也正是這最簡單的一餐,徹底顛覆了父親的看法:「這比肉好吃多了,有了這樣的食物,你確實不再需要吃肉了。」

2、順其自然,與天地交流
「我想和天地交流,我想通過美食和每個人交流」。這是她一直以來的堅持。
秉著這個信念,她開始了她的僧侶生活。

她種植的蔬菜,整年時間依賴著自然、宇宙、土地力量以及人力茁壯生長。從不施農藥治蟲,或者用某些化肥來「拔苗助長」。
一般名人們的花園,都極具設計感。反觀靜觀師太的花園,雜亂無章,分不清楚花園和森林的界限,或者說,根本就沒有界限。她將一切與自然分享。僅用人的勞動力來開墾土地,再將種子播撒於土地之中,剩下的便交由空氣、水和陽光,任由日曬雨淋,無論風霜雨雪,植物們總能隨遇而安,開花結果。

晚上偶爾有野豬來偷食南瓜,她也不會驅趕,會讓它吃個痛快,因為這就是自然。這也是她一直提倡的--純天然食材的概念。但是,卻並不是我們常說的「有機食物」的概念。

其實,最完美的料理源自對身體最健康、味道最自然的食材,產生於與水果、蔬菜、調味香草、豆子、蘑菇及谷物之間的緊密關系。在她看來,廚師與其使用食材之間的關系應該是親密無間的。
所以,所有的食材都由她親自種植,親自采摘,再親自烹飪。「我親自種植它,並將自己的感情注入其中。雨水、太陽、土壤、種子,它們是我的烹飪大軍,這是順其自然。」
