In UK, 奶油 = butter, which is ok for vegetarian.
In Taiwan, 牛油 could be the butter or meat fat. For the safety concern, I would suggest that you check with the manufactury first.
It is all very confusing. Read the package carefully if it has an English description at the back of package, make sure it has "contain no animal fat" written on it. This ensure you are eating BUTTER not 牛油.
