"TAIWAN'S KEE-LUNG CITY GOVERNMENT BLAMED TO HAVE HANGED A DOG TO DEATH"
A video footage in which a dog catcher from Kee-lung city government hanged a dog to death has been widely spread over the Internet on the weekend, and thousands of e-mails have been sent to the mailbox of Kee-lung's mayor to blame the cruelty and inhumanity of the government.
The whole story happened last Friday (May 20), when several dog catchers from the Kee-lung City Government went to deal with 5 dogs because they were complained of having contaminated the environment of a community. However, the way they dealt with those miserable creatures showed the very darkness of mankind.
Instead of putting the dog gently in the back of the truck, they threw a poor puppy onto their truck, so the miserable life screamed when thrown high into the sky and then fell down into the cage. Worst of all, when they went on to deal with another dog, they locked the dog by the neck with a chain, and when they managed to pull the dog onto the truck, the dog struggled back and forth and therefore hanged in the air; however, the catcher still went on pulling the chain until eventually the dog was hanged to death alive.
The whole process was captured by a cameraman of a television station, and when the news was broadcast throughout the island, so were the blames and rages from the society. According to Antony Ni, webmaster of the website of Animal Rescue Team, a non-profit organization in charge of stray dog rescue missions for over ten years, thousands of messages have been posted on the Internet discussion forums over the island and countless e-mails have been sent or forwarded around the nation and even overseas to blame the cruel execution happened in such a so-called developed country.
“They owe an apology to the dead dog,” said Antony Ni, “so we call for every citizen to write an e-mail to tell the story to the mayor, and we strongly ask that the personnel responsible for the case be strictly punished.” According to Joseph Nee, who heads Animal Rescue Team, the raging fire is spreading throughout the animal protection groups over the island, and they will also forward the video footage to international animal-care organizations around the world.
Animal Rescue Team has now put this video clip on their website, but they warned that any viewer be psychologically prepared before watching the footage.
